Orthopedic (ceramic) veneers are made of durable ceramics, their installation requires several visits to an orthopedic dentist: preparation (as dentists call the treatment of teeth for veneers) + taking casts, approving the shape of new teeth, then fixing.
Porcelain veneers are made in the laboratory from very strong and durable materials, which in their structure are as close as possible to tooth enamel. That is, the finished veneers will look as natural as "their" teeth. The service life of orthopedic veneers is about 15-20 years.
How are Lumineers different?
Lumineers are thin ceramic (porcelain) veneers produced by the patented technology of the American company DenMat.
This material should be stronger than the ceramics of conventional veneers, but there are disadvantages to this advantage.
Lumineers are almost opaque, and although they are treated with special stains to match the color of the teeth, on closer inspection their appearance is less close to the natural appearance of the teeth than, for example, classic porcelain veneers, which can consist of several layers and are also translucent.
So today the classic ceramic veneers made of E-MAX press ceramics are a more perfect product. The material has a higher strength. Lithium ceramic disilicate blanks for metal-free applications are available in four degrees of clarity. In each group from 3 to 16 different shades. Is it possible to put veneers without turning at all? Or is it a myth?
This is not a myth, but the case is quite rare. And for such a method, there should be indications: the absence of any bite pathologies, healthy teeth without caries and fillings. Another situation when turning is not needed is the lack of volume of the vestibular surface of the tooth (that is, the front surface of the tooth is flat, it needs to be added volume).
